NURSING HOME CARE UNIT- V.A. CASTLE POINT
In an effort to improve patient care and privacy, additions and renovations were made to the Nursing Home Care Unit (NHCU) of the V.A. Castle Point campus. The project was completed in two phases in 1993 and 1994, each phase consisting of 20,000 square feet of additions. Phase 1 included an addition to the NHCU day rooms and connecting corridors for existing buildings. The exterior architecture consists of brick and clapboard siding and is designed to complement the pedestrian scale of the existing campus. Further additions were made to the NHCU and multi-purpose building in Phase 2, as well as corridors connecting Phase 1, Phase 2, and the hospital. The additions and renovations have made the entire Nursing Home Care Unit wheelchair accessible and include views of the outdoor exercise courtyard.
